NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN ROADMARKING (ASSISTANT) WITH OPTIONAL STRANDS IN PILOTING, RAISED PAVEMENT MARKERS, THERMOPLASTICS, AND TRANSPORT

Strands: Piloting, Raised Pavement Markers, and Transport

CORE SKILLS COVERED:

  • Demonstrating basic knowledge of roadmarking materials, plant and processes
  • The approved handler requirements of the HSNO Act 1996
  • Driver response to spillage, leakage or loss of load
  • Law and practice for the transport of dangerous goods by road
  • Health, safety and environmental requirements specific to roadmarking
  • Performing a range of roadmarking assistant tasks
  • Holding a full Class 1 driver license and dangerous goods license endorsement
  • Operating as a traffic controller for low volume and level 1 roads
  • Providing first aid
  • Communicating with others
  • Responding to fire incidents onsite

The last date for entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2017. This qualification will be replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Roadmarking (Assistant) (Level 2) with optional strands in Piloting and Raised Pavement Markers.

Roadmarking Operator

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN ROADMARKING (OPERATOR) WITH STRANDS IN A-TYPE APPLICATOR; AND B-TYPE APPLICATOR; AND WITH OPTIONAL STRANDS IN RAISED PAVEMENT MARKERS; TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ON LEVEL 2 AND 3 ROADS; AND TRANSPORT

Optional Strands: Raised Pavement Markers, Temporary Traffic Management on Level 2 and 3 Roads, and Transport

CORE SKILLS COVERED:

  • Managing and providing first aid
  • Demonstrating knowledge of hazardous substance requirements
  • Driver response to spillage, leakage or loss of load
  • Roadmarking specifications
  • Performing simple industry calculations
  • Maintaining quality records
  • Locating, setting out, and managing simple roadmarking sites
  • Performing quality assurance inspection and sampling
  • Holding a full Class 1 driver license and dangerous goods license endorsement
  • Operating as a Traffic Controller (TC) and Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) for low volume and Level 1 roads

The last date for entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2017. This qualification will be replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Roadmarking (Operator) (Level 3) with strands in A-Type Applicator; and B-Type Applicator; and with an optional strand in Raised Pavement Markers.

Roadmarking Senior Operator

  • Utilising roadmarking maps and plans for plant operation
  • Performing complex industry calculations
  • Setting out complex roadmarking work
  • Supervising and managing projects in the roadmarking industry
  • Demonstrating expertise in the handling and use of long-life roadmarking products, or in paint marking

The last date of entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2017. This qualification will be replaced with the New Zealand Certificate in Roadmarking (Senior Operator) (Level 4) with strands in A-Type Applicator New Work, and B-Type Applicator New Work, with an Optional Strand in Testing.
