TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The Telecommunications Industry is enabling the rapid transformation of modern life through constant connectivity. As consumers we expect fast, reliable access to the information networks we use every day to keep in touch, do business and live our lives online.

The sector that makes it all possible is going through its own rapid transformation, as New Zealand invests in telecommunications at one of the fastest rates in the OECD. Projects such as the rollout of ultrafast broadband, rural broadband initiatives and new 4G mobile networks are making more people connected in more locations – lifting living standards and enhancing our economy’s capacity.

Within the industry, fierce competition, cutbacks, consolidation and technological innovation continue to create an environment of change and opportunity. At the grassroots level, companies are facing a shortage of qualified workers to meet the demands of new telecommunications contracts.
