benstevens eNews, News

Kia ora,

We’re happy to say that the shortest day has passed, and we are halfway through this year. The following newsletter has information on the re-boot of the assessor portal, Level 5 Water treatment enrolments, and a request for subject matter experts.

Assessor portal

Most of the bugs have been worked out and we are pleased to announce that Assessor portal is now live. Thank you for your patience. Please note that you may experience the following:

  • Message saying “Login Failed” when you log on for the first time. If you refresh the page, it should disappear and you will be able to access the portal.
  • Reported results showing multiple times – this is due to the trainee having multiple training plans with the same units. Do not worry, your results have only come through once.

The portal is only for reporting credits for learners in a Connexis training plan. All other assessments are to continue to be reported using he workbook. To access the portal, click here.

Water treatment qualifications

We are encouraging employees who have completed a level 4 qualification to enrol in a diploma programme with Connexis. If you know of someone who has completed a Level 4, please ask them to contact the local CSAM for more information.

Enrolments for the upcoming New Zealand Diploma in Drinking Water Treatment (Level 5) course closes 5 August 2022, so be in quick.

Subject Matter Experts

We are in the look out for Subject Matter Experts (SME) across all of our industries to provide technical assistance to our resource development team in the writing of our assessment resources. If you would like to put yourself forward for this, please contact resources@connexis.org.nz. Once you have put yourself forward, you will be called upon when a project comes up, and naturally, you will be compensated for your time.

Consistency reviews

We have been gathering information about our programmes from graduates and their employers for NZQA Consistency reviews. Thank you to everyone who has responded so far.

The information is used to understand the value of the qualification for industry and to improve our resources and programmes so we would appreciate if you can spare 5 minutes to complete the survey. If you have any questions, please contact quality@connexis.org.nz

Internal Moderation

Thank you to everyone for the engagement with moderation. We are receiving over 90% of submissions requested. Of those, 95% have had supported decisions.

We continue to work with those assessors who have had unsupported decisions or have not engaged in moderation this year to ensure they have the opportunity to remain compliant.

Assessor Forums

We are not far off our first assessor forums for 2022. We are running the first assessor forum in Auckland on 9 August 2022 in Auckland. There are multiple opportunities to attend a forum at one of the venues around New Zealand. Please register here. It’s an easy two step registration process – click on the link to the meeting you wish to attend, then fill in your details You will receive a reminder email the day before.

If you are attending a forum, it is recommended that you do a RAT on the day to ensure you are negative to reduce the spread. If you are unwell, please stay home and monitor symptoms. There are online forums for those that are unable to attend in person.

A reminder that attendance at a forum once every two years is a requirement for ongoing Assessor registration. It is an opportunity to network with peers and to receive updates about qualifications, and Connexis processes.

Farewell

And last but not least, we sadly farewelled Jasmine Conroy, who has been a fantastic QA administrator for the team over the past two and a half years.

We wish Jasmine all the best in her new role as Moderation Specialist at Muka Tangata WDC.

Ka kite,

Quality Assurance team
